The Afrobeats Party: 5-Year Anniversary

In 2021, The Afrobeats Party started as a Friday night at Red Lounge — one room, one DJ, and a community that didn't have a home for the sounds of the African diaspora anywhere in the Pacific Northwest.

OkayAfrica wrote about it. The Seattle Times covered it. Chance the Rapper showed up because someone told him this was the only place in Seattle to hear Afrobeats on a Friday night.

Five years later, what started as a weekly gathering is now a special-occasion event, and that's by design.
